DIY Bar Soap

Another soap, this time it is bar soap. Sorry there is no pictures again on making it because my glycerin soap melted pretty quickly.
What you need:
glycerin soap base- 2 soap blocks
essential oils or fragrance oils
soap dye
soap mold
double broiler
Grate the two soap base like cheese this will help it melt faster.
Melt the glycerin soap completely in the double boiler.
While the soap is melting, I put my oils and dye in the molds. I did each mold a different smell and color.
Then when the soap is melted, pour it in the mold. I used a mini cupcake pan and 2 blocks worked perfectly. I took a tablespoon and spooned it in the molds.
Put in freezer for about an hour and then take out of freezer and mold and you have soap bars.
The one thing that my family has complained about is that this soap doesn't lather like normal soap but it cleans you very well.

DIY Soap

Today I did Honey and Almond soap. It has turned out good. I really like the smell of it.

1 4oz bar of soap grated like cheese

1/2 gallon of water

2 tablespoons of liquid glycerin

A large stock pot to hold this in

Melt the grated soap in the water and glycerin on medium heat. When the soap is melted it will look like cloudy soapy water. If you want to add dyes or essential oils now is the time

Let the soap set for 10-12 hours

After the soap has set for 10-12 hrs get an  electric hand mixer and mix until you have the consistency of liquid soap. I added some water while mixing.

I let my soap set in the pot over night and when I woke up this morning it reminded me of white snot. This is normal.  I put mine in 3 pint mason jars and an old lemonade container. Now you have your own soap.

Sorry there is no pictures to this, I forgot to take them last night.

DIY Face Primer

To make homemade face primer you need
moisturizing lotion- one you know you can use
face power- you can use any color to match your skin. If you want a clear primer you will need to use a transparent. You  can also use liquid foundation. For this DIY i am using a transparent glow powder from AVON.

In a small jar put your moisturizing lotion in there. I used a small amount to find out how well it works before making a large amount. I am using a Dollar General brand lotion because I have sensative skin and this is all I know I can use and not have an allergic reaction. I have tried several name brands for sensative skin and they break my face out. I was refered to this from someone else that has the same problem.

Now add a little bit of powder in there.

Stir the two together if you would like to had a sun block you can.

Hand with primer

I put some on my hands to test it out and I can tell the difference in just my hand.

Hand without Primer

You may not be able to tell the difference in the pictures but my right hand has primer on it and my left does not

DIY Lotion

I made my own lotion today. I used a recipe I found off another website but the comments said it was greasy and things. So with that being said I used my own measurements and its awesome. The ingredients are
16 Oz. Baby lotion
2 Oz. Vaseline
4 Oz. Vitamin E cream
Mix these together with a rubber spatula or electric mixer. Put into containers. I washed and reused containers we had around the house and you have made a great lotion. I love this is very moisturizing. I used the off brand on this and it works wonderfully!!

Beginning

I have recently started doing my own crafts and I wanted somewhere to blog about it. Whether it worked or not and whether I liked the ending product. I love saving money and doing homemade things. I have always liked doing crafts but now I have more time on my hands seeing I don't work anymore and this is just awesome. Recently, I have made my own laundry soap, fabric softener, lip balm, deodorant, body scrubs, bath salts, bubble bath, body soap, and toothpaste. All of it worked except the toothpaste. If you like the taste of baking soda then the toothpaste would be great. The toothpaste did make my teeth feel clean but I couldn't get over the taste. Now, the laundry soap was the best thing that I could of done. It makes the clothes cleaner than store bought soap. Also, we have a problem with our was washer smelling but this soap has not made the washer smell. It has helped so much with that. With the laundry soap my brother is allergic to every kind of laundry soap but one kind and the homemade does not break him out or anything. He works in a cement plant and it makes his clothes so much cleaner. To get everything you need to do the soap it cost roughly $20 but that's with the storage container. I'm thinking next time it will be roughly $10-15. One batch has lasted us around a month so far. We still have quite a bit left. The fabric softener has worked so far expect if you have lots and lots of static then it doesn't take all the static out. It has done a great job making the clothes smell good and are softer than before. The lip balm is amazing it's all I use unless I forget it at home and then I buy more. The deodorant has worked for the most part. At night is when I can start to smell myself. I have been using it this week and it's been a hectic week so, this has been the ultimate test. Also, the only down fall with the deodorant is that it is made with coconut oil and coconut oil melts really quickly. So I have to store mine in the freezer and its cold when I put it on. But it has worked other than that. The body scrub, bath salts and bubble bath I did for Christmas gifts and so far they love them. I have made some for them since Christmas. I just made the body soap last night so I'm not sure how it has turned out to be. I am going to start doing my own wreaths and thing for my friends and family. If it all turns out good then maybe I will be able to start selling these things. I want to start going to flea market and little shows around here to start selling them. I do these things I will take pictures and put them up here with the recipe so everyone can try them.
